About
A journey of Emunah and perseverance that built a thriving Makom Torah.

How It All Began
Three and a half years ago, after years of learning in a Kollel in Hashmonaim, Rabbi Yosef Chaim Posner and his fellow Talmidei Chachamim had to leave due to COVID-19. Missing the quiet and warmth of the place, Rabbi Posner returned to learn alone.
One day, a friend suggested he start a Kollel. Rabbi Posner hesitated, unsure of the complexities involved. Just then, another friend mentioned someone interested in supporting a Kollel—Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Frankel.
At first, Rabbi Frankel wasn’t interested in opening a Kollel but was willing to donate 1,000 shekels to an existing one in Hashmonaim. Rabbi Posner urged him to reconsider, and after discussing it, they decided to move forward together.
Initially, they assumed they’d receive 50% external funding, but it turned out they didn’t meet the criteria. Despite this, with ten Avreichim already enrolled, they chose to continue with Bitachon.
For Rabbi Posner, this was also a continuation of his father’s legacy—an extraordinary Baal Teshuva who returned to Torah in Russia, learned under Rav Zilber ZT”L, and led Yeshivas Toras Chaim in Moscow. Many owe their Ruchniyus to him, and Rabbi Posner saw this Kollel as a worthy tribute.
They advertised, and before funding was secured, ten Avreichim had already signed up. Despite the challenges, Kollel Mishnat Shimon was established and flourished. Today, it is home to 30 Talmidei Chachamim, learning in various frameworks.
This is a story of Emunah, perseverance, and the power of Torah—a dream fulfilled and a thriving Makom Torah.
A Makom Torah and a Way of Life
Kollel Mishnat Shimon is where Torah meets life.
We are committed to 4 core values:
Uninterrupted Torah Study – Without a Moment’s Break
01
At Kollel Mishnat Shimon, the Avreichim are completely immersed in Torah, from the early hours of the morning until late at night, without pausing - not for work, not for distractions, not for anything. The kollel is filled with the sound of Torah from sunrise to sunset, and beyond. Here, Torah is not just studied—it is lived. The Avreichim do not step away; they learn in full devotion, absorbed in the sugya before them, pushing forward with relentless passion.
This level of intensity is what sets Mishnat Shimon apart. The beit midrash is a place of constant energy, where Avreichim sharpen their minds, debate questions, and uncover insights. The rigorous learning schedule does not tire them; rather, it fills them with motivation, joy, and the thrill of discovery.
With an extensive library, comfortable study spaces, and a dedicated rabbinic staff, every resource is provided to ensure uninterrupted Torah study.
Strengthening Spirituality in the Chashmonaim Community
02
The kollel is "a beacon of Torah, illuminating its surroundings and spreading a spirit of holiness throughout the community." As the only kollel of its kind in Chashmonaim, its influence reaches beyond its walls, shaping the spiritual character of the entire town.
When residents see the Avreichim sitting with unwavering focus, immersed in Torah, it inspires and uplifts. "The struggling youth sees the dedicated learners, and it may spark something within him, leading him to reconsider his own spiritual path."
The kollel is more than just a place of study; it is a hub of spiritual growth, where people turn for tefillah, shiurim, and guidance from rabbanim. It strengthens the bond between the community and its religious heritage, making Torah a living force in everyday life.
A Unique Yissachar-Zevulun Partnership
03
The Yissachar-Zevulun partnership at Kollel Mishnat Shimon is not just an idea—it is a structured agreement, sealed with a halachic contract. This ensures that both parties fully understand their commitment and share in the merit of Torah study.
By supporting an Avreich, the partner becomes an active participant in his learning, receiving a portion of its eternal reward. The donor is a full partner in the Torah study, as if he is learning himself.
This partnership is more than financial support; it creates a deep spiritual connection between the supporter and the scholar. Every day, Torah is learned in the donor’s merit, and special prayers are offered on their behalf.
The kollel provides a variety of partnership options, from dedicating full days of learning to requesting prayers for personal success, health, or significant life events. Many supporters have experienced blessings and success in their lives through this sacred bond with Torah.
Honoring the Legacy of
Rabbi Shimon Pozner ZT”L
04
Our father, R' Shimon Pozner zt"l, was a man of vision and deep conviction. Born in Moscow to a family distant from Judaism, his heart burned for Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. Twice imprisoned for his Zionist activism, his spirit remained unbroken.
In the solitude of imprisonment, he discovered his Creator. Seeking Judaism in unconventional ways, he found answers in the writings of the Maskilim, piecing together mitzvot and building his own Jewish world.
After making Aliyah, he became a devoted student of R' Yitzchak Zilber zt"l and completed his journey of teshuva. Over time, he became a respected leader and educator, serving as Rosh Yeshiva of "Torat Chaim" in Moscow, bringing hundreds of students closer to Torah.
Many of his students owe their spiritual lives to him. More than a Rosh Yeshiva, he was a father and guide. His legacy continues today through the Kollel bearing his name, carrying on his mission of spreading Torah and strengthening Jewish faith.
